Hiroshi started his career in 1963, working for Kyokuyo in Japan. Spending his summers in Alaska, he made the move to Seattle in 1974. In 1997, he left Kyokuyo to start Arai International. After a couple of years of consulting, he joined Big Island Abalone Corporation in 1999, moving to Hawaii and becoming CEO in 2007.
After taking the company through multiple financing rounds, and selling the company to Kowa Premium Foods in 2017, Hiroshi left in 2019 to help other organizations setup aquaculture operations on the Big Island of Hawaii.

Hiroshi lives in Bellevue, WA with his wife. He has two daughters and two grandsons in the Pacific Northwest, and is an avid golfer.
